Dr. Gillespie-Johnson began her career in dentistry in 2009. After earning her undergraduate degree in Biology from Voorhees College, she made her way to the Midwest to earn her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As a native of College Park, Georgia, now wife, mother, and business owner, Dr. Gillespie-Johnson enthusiastically brings her passion for oral healthcare to her hometown.

In keeping with her commitment to ensure that her patients have access to the best possible treatment options, Dr. Gillespie Johnson is always perfecting her craft by continuing her education of the latest developments in dental technology. Southern Pearl Dentistry offers the latest in advancements such as laser treatments, sedation, and cosmetic dentistry procedures. Additionally, Dr. Gillespie-Johnson is an active member of the American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the National Dental Association.

As a philanthropist, Dr. Gillespie-Johnson is a strong advocate for spreading oral health awareness to underserved communities both domestically and abroad. Through missionary work, Dr. Gillespie along with a team of clinicians, travel to the Dominican Republic twice a year to provide free dental care, medical exams, eye exams, and nutritional guidance. Here in Georgia, she and her team are active participants in the annual Mission of Mercy event sponsored by the American Dental Association, through which they provide dental care to those who otherwise don’t have access.

While oral healthcare is her passion, Dr. LaTonya Gillespie makes time for her husband, Murvin Johnson and their daughter Skylar. In her spare time, she also enjoys sports, traveling, painting, and photography. Lastly, her ideal of success starts from building the community. Working with the NIA Project has allowed Dr. Gillespie to expand her horizons in how she correlates with addressing mental health from the oral health spectrum in the community. As a Voorhees College Board of Trustee, she coordinates community service events with Voorhees College Metro Atlanta Alumni Chapter, where she currently serves as the President, and the Voorhees College National Alumni Association, and her chapter within Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. while changing one smile at a time.
